Touch lets you delete your account and the personal data tied to it at any time, directly in the app. This page explains how, how to ask for deletion if you can no longer sign in, and exactly what is removed and the small set of safety records we keep.
Delete your account in the app (fastest)
- Open Touch and go to Settings (your profile → the settings icon).
- Scroll to the Account section.
- Tap Delete account.
- Confirm on the "Delete your account?" screen.
Deletion begins immediately and can't be undone.
Can't access the app?
The quickest way is still the app. Install Touch, sign in with the one-time code we text to your account's phone number (or with a Google or Facebook account you linked), and follow the steps above.
If you can't or don't want to use the app, you can still delete your account:
- On the web: go to Delete your account without the app. You confirm the account is yours with a one-time code we text to its phone number, then delete it. It takes a minute and doesn't need the app.
- By email: write to support@touchapp.app with the subject "Delete my account" and the phone number your account uses.
Knowing the number isn't enough on its own: so that nobody can delete someone else's account, we'll only act on an email once you've shown the account is yours, in one of these ways:
- by replying from the recovery email you confirmed on the account, or from the email address of a Google or Facebook account you linked to it; or
- if your account has neither, by confirming with a one-time code sent to that phone number (the web page above does exactly this).
For email requests, we'll then complete the deletion within 30 days (usually much sooner) and let you know when it's done. The web page deletes the account straight away.
What gets deleted
When you delete your account, we remove:
- Your profile and photos, and who you'd like to meet
- Your Journey: your Stations, location estimates, visits, encounter records, and the approximate night-time areas used to protect your home
- Your likes and "Not for me" choices, and your blocks
- Every match you're in, with all its messages, photos and voice messages, for both participants (except a short copy kept so the other person can still report a conversation; see "What we keep, and why")
- Your recovery email, linked sign-in accounts (Google or Facebook) and your sign-in account itself
- Your device push-notification tokens and service diagnostics
- You are also removed from every other user's Stations
A few short-lived records in our matching pipeline can still refer to your account for up to 30 days, then expire automatically. Location estimates are also deleted automatically after 30 days, whether or not you delete your account. If your phone had estimates it hadn't sent yet, they are discarded after at most 24 hours (7 days on older versions of the app) and deleted the next time the app starts. Deleted photos and voice messages stay in our storage provider's recovery area for 7 days, where no user can reach them, and are then erased.
What we keep, and why
A small set of safety records is kept even after your account is deleted, so we can keep the community safe and meet our legal obligations:
- Reports and moderation outcomes, deleted automatically 24 months after a moderator has reviewed them (a report is never deleted unread)
- A summary of reports about your account (how many, and by whom), deleted automatically 24 months after the most recent report
- Automated photo-check results, deleted automatically 24 months after the photo is removed
- Copies kept with a report from a chat (the last few messages, the reported person's photos and voice messages among them, and the transcript of a reported voice message), messages or photos our checks held back, and copies of profile photos rejected by our check or by our safety team, deleted automatically on the schedule in the Privacy Policy §7 (at most 24 months after a moderator's review)
- A short copy of a conversation the other person may need to report: when you delete your account in version 0.1.0 (13) or later of the app, or on our web deletion page, and a conversation that is open, or ended in the last 30 days, has at least one of your messages among its last 10, we keep those 10 messages, with your photos and voice messages among them, for up to 30 days. No one sees it unless the other person reports the conversation; it is then handled as a report. It is deleted automatically when the period ends, or sooner if the other person deletes their account. Nothing is kept if their account has been banned or hidden by our safety team, or if they have already reported that ended conversation
- Automated location-spoofing signals, deleted automatically after 12 months
- Rate-limit counters, deleted automatically after 7 days
- Admin access logs (a record of any admin access to accounts), deleted automatically after 12 months
When the law requires us to preserve a particular record (for example for a legal claim or an investigation by the authorities), we keep that record, and any photo or voice message it covers, beyond the period above only until the obligation ends. If we find suspected child sexual abuse material, we keep the material and the related records only as long as needed to investigate and report it as the law requires; only our safety team can access them, and every access through our moderation tools is logged.
These records are server-side only and never readable by other users (the person you were talking with sees only that a conversation from the date you matched can still be reported, and until the date shown, never your name, your photo or the copy). See the Privacy Policy §7 for the full retention table and the safety-record exception.
